Quote based on The Social Network Screenplay by Aaron Sorkin.
Sorkin ILU. Also Jesse.
One of my screenwriting professors used to get so mad when we did this because she’d be like BUT HOW DO WE KNOW THAT’S WHAT HE MEANS? and I’d be like …Because I said so? Isn’t that what the writer does? I guess she meant that we should know based on the actions and dialogue instead of dictating meaning or whatever, I don’t know, she’d be like but you can’t show that a character is happy or whatever you’re saying he is (which I’d say is in turn the actor’s job, and you should trust the audience to be smart enough to figure out if, you know, someone’s acting happy or whatever) and I mean, it can also be the actor’s job to know that this line implies they’re happy or whatever, but then it’s like OH BUT YOUR SCRIPTS ARE SO VOID OF EMOTION and I’d be like WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?
tl;dr I think I get what she meant more now, but I still love shit like this and I will never stop. Mostly I just love his face.
